Ann Brokaw Receives Kim Foglia AP Biology Service Award
RRHS biology teacher Ann Brokaw has been selected as the recipient of the Kim Foglia AP Biology Service Award, which recognizes an AP Biology teacher who displays a willingness to share materials, serves as a mentor to both students and professional colleagues, creates an innovative and student centered classroom environment, and exemplifies a personal philosophy that encourages professional growth as an AP biology teacher and member of that community.
Pirate Pride Award
The Pirate Pride award recognizes students who get "caught doing something good." A student may be nominated who has demonstrated a behavior that goes above and beyond the ordinary in terms of kindness, civility, or citizenship.

The Pirate Pride Award winner for the week of May 20th is senior Cory Dzurik. Ms. Ericka Mathews, Cory's English teacher, had nominated him for his special, all-day volunteer assistance with a special needs student on a recent field trip.  Cory was very attentive to his needs and showed a great deal of enthusiasm to be working with him. Cory went above and beyond his volunteer duty to make sure the student enjoyed himself. We are all proud of Cory for his kindness.

Understanding School Finance
The cost to educate young people across the state is significant and those costs continue to rise. More Ohio tax dollars are spent for primary and secondary education than for any other single governmental function.  This article provides information about public school funding in Ohio.
