River topples Rockets in Wednesday GLC action

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- River ran by Bay Wednesday, as the Pirates swept the Rockets in Great Lakes Conference meet at Rocky River Stadium. The Double-R boys earned an 83-53 triumph, while the Pirate girls prevailed 110-29.

Rocky River clocked 10 wins in the boys' side. Freshman Henry Lange was in on two gold-winning relay squads, the 4x800-meter and the 4x400.

In the girls meet, the Pirates took first place in 15 events. Sophomore Morgyn Cruz was in on a winning relay (4x100) and also earned wins in the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. Caroline Sidoti was in for a quarter of two winning relays (4x1, 4x2) while earning first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash and high jump. Sophomore Keira Arnold was a part of two winning relays, the 4x4 and 4x8. Arnold also placed second in the 800. Sophomore Mary Sollars was in for a piece on the 4x2 while taking first in the 200 and second in the 100 hurdles. Senior Taylor Byall captured first in the 400 and was the Pirates' lead-off runner in the 4x4.

Both Pirate squads are now 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in GLC meets. Rocky River's next meet is scheduled for April 20 at Fairview.
