Rocky River, Westlake split in Wednesday GLC action

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Rocky River split at Westlake Wednesday, with the River boys falling 69-68 and the Pirate girls prevailing 79-56.

On the boys side, Rocky River (4-1, 4-1 Great Lakes Conference) won nine events. Owen Kleckner swept the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Greg Ganor won the 800-meter run and was in for a quarter of the 4x800 relay. Griffin Sawyer took first in the pole vault with a personal-best height of 12 feet-6 inches.

The River girls (5-0, 5-0) won five events but dominated point production in second- and third-place slots. Allie Dewey won the 3200-meter run and was in for a piece of the 4x8. Katie Stirm was in that same relay and added a victory in the 1600. The Pirates swept gold, silver, and bronze in both the 100 hurdles and the 3200.
