Pirates remain unbeaten with sweep at Fairview

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio -- Rocky River earned its fourth dual-meet sweep of the spring at Fairview Wednesday. The River boys downed their Warrior hosts 84-53 in a hard-fought battle. The Pirate girls prevailed by a 95-32 final.

The Double-R boys posted victories in 11 events. Rocky River crossed the wire with first-, second-, and third-place points in the 100-meter dash when Hogan Kern, Anthony Opris, and Michael Seth posted times 11.5, 11.6, and 11.7 seconds, respectively. Kern was also in for a quarter of two winning relays (4x100, 4x400) and took third in the long jump.

Michael Allen swept the 110- and 300-meter hurdle events. Grant Preto clocked a win in the 800 and the meet's top performance  -- by nearly 2 feet -- in the long jump. Adam Maroon (first in discus, second in shot put) was tabbed as the team's Field Athlete of the Meet. Greg Ganor (third in the 800-meter run, member of first-place 4x8 squad) was named Track Athlete of the Meet.

On the girls' side, Rocky River got solid performances from Madie Shoaf, Sarah Saad, Caroline Sidoti, Taylor Byall, Sam Coleman, Keira Arnold, and Morgyn Cruz. [Full event results unavailable at time of publication.]
