The Rocky River City School District is pleased to announce the launch of our new Blackboard Connect 5 Parent Portal Website.  Our email notification company, AlertNow, was purchased by Blackboard and all accounts are being transitioned to Connect 5 accounts.

Setting up a Connect 5 Parent Portal account will enable you to manage your contact information for email and voice notifications right from your own computer.  You will be able to add multiple phone numbers and email addresses.  In addition, you will have the option to enable text messaging for emergency situations. 

You are not required to set up a Blackboard Connect 5 Parent Portal account.  You will still continue to receive email and phone notifications to the primary contact email and phone number we have in our student database. 

• Telephone and text messages will be used for school cancellations or for emergencies. 
• Email messages will be used to notify parents about events such as report card distribution, open houses, conferences, and to distribute items such as school newsletters. 

Please note that this Connect 5 Parent Portal is different from the Online Forms Parent Portal account that you set up lin August. 

Phone numbers or email addresses entered into the Connect 5 Parent Portal are not automatically changed in our student information system.  You will still need to let your child’s school know of changes for your primary phone number and primary email address.

You can access our new Connect 5 Parent Portal by typing the following URL into the web browser on your computer:  

Once the page is open, click the Sign Me Up! link to setup your account. In order to create an account you will need:

• An active email address
• Your child’s Student ID 
• The phone number or email address that we have on file for your student

You will then receive an email with a link to follow to activate your new account.

After you have logged in, you can add any additional students you have attending our schools by clicking your name in the upper right corner and selecting Contact Information.  You will need the Student ID for each child you add. 

Note: Your child's Student ID was sent to you in an email on 9/24/12.  There was a separate email for each child.  If you did not receive this email, please contact your child's school and they will give you the Student ID.
